Destination Donegal

Over the next coming months, I will be writing about my travels covering 24 different countries, giving details of visa requirements, along with Wedding Information and requirements, suitable wedding venues as well as tales and pictures about my experience.

Firstly, a bit about your travel companion, I am second generation Irish, my mother's side of the family comes from a small village called PILTOWN, Co. Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland.  Well that's no where near Donegal, I hear you say, well I lived there for three years many years ago, I an want to return as a visitor, hence that will be my final destination for this trip.

Places that I will be visiting,  will be along the meditterean coast, some of North Africa, maybe the Canary Isle's, working up the Atlantic cost and via the English Chanel, working upto the Baltics coming round and down the Baltics  to arrive back on the shores of the UK, making my way up north and crossing the Atlantic to those welcoming shores of Ireland.

CAIRO, Egypt

With regard to travel documents for Cairo, consult the following web page http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/travel-advice-by-country/middle-east-north-africa/egypt, this website gives you all the information that you require along with any Terror threat, so please do consult it when you are making any decisions.

After landing at 7am UTC (GMT+2) and waiting for disembarkation, the first thing I noticed whilst walking from the plane to the terminal was the heat, and it was early.  If you are thinking about visiting Cairo, June and July are the hotest months to visit, Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb are the coolest times to visit.  Word of warning about Cairo Airport, be prepared for chaos, theft, giving bribes, and do not use taxi's inside the airport they will charge you more and travel light do not take bags and bags of luguage.  Organised tour groups are good, but again they have their problems, having said that, be careful you still will have fun.

Smog over Cairo.

After arrival at the hotel, a rest and brush up was required.  Later followed by a stroll out and about.

Hi again,

Well I have had my tours around the city, been to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx.  I have included the web address so you can read all the information about them http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/pyramids/home.html.    One thing I did notice, was how much the elements has eroded the front of the Sphinx over the years.  Looking at it from pictures before seeing it, I never would have believed it

I took this whilst waiting for everyone to come out of the pyramid.  Claustrophobia got the better of me.

The next place to visit was the Cairo Musuem, and guess what was there on display - I was in Seventh Heaven - The Tutankhamun Treasures, you can leave me here now!!!!
